The Beltway and Washington D.C area is a fantastic place to live, sporting a variety of nice communities. There are dozens of high-quality neighbourhoods in the area, providing a great area to raise a family in. Despite so many great areas, there are a few sections that set themselves apart from other neighbourhoods. These fantastic neighbourhoods may have great public education, a thriving nightlife, or extreme safety and security. So what is the absolute cream of the crop when it comes to Beltway communities? Let’s take a look.

Alexandria

One of the best beltway communities to live in is Alexandria, Virginia. Located south of D.C, Alexandria is home to a variety of bars and clubs, leading to a great nightlife scene. Although Alexandria may not have the nicest public schools in the region, the community’s schools are still above the national average. Alexandria is unique in that it doesn’t have a suburban feel to it, unlike most of the other Beltway communities on this list. Residents that are looking for a more urban feel from their Beltway community will feel right at home, and should immediately start looking for Alexandria apartments for rent

Potomac

Potomac is an amazing community to live in outside of Washington D, C, mainly due to the area’s high-quality public schools. Potomac schools are highly rated, ensuring that your children will receive an amazing education. Additionally, Potomac frequently receives praise for its family-friendliness, being both a safe and welcoming environment. There’s plenty for children to enjoy in the area, including a variety of parks and outdoor areas. While Potomac may not be the most exciting or famous community around D.C, it certainly is one of the friendliest.

Arlington

Another great community in the Beltway area is Arlington. You may know Arlington from the Arlington National Cemetery, but the community is so much more than just an amazing monument. Arlington is also great for families and has a good public school system, although they don’t rank the highest in either category. The area where Arlington really shines is in entertainment. The community has a lot of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops, giving you plenty to do in the area. This in combination with a relatively high safety rating makes Arlington one of the best-rated places to live in Virginia.

Chevy Chase

In terms of D.C suburbs, Chevy Chase is a jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none. The community sports good ratings in education and safety, but it’s not the best. Additionally, Chevy Chase doesn’t have vibrant entertainment as Arlington does. However, Chevy Chase does have a fantastic housing market and a relatively diverse population, boosting its attractiveness. If you’re looking for a quality area with a suburban feel, Chevy Chase may be one of the best options.
