The popular show stars two Jewish American women, Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, as they deal with the everyday problems of working in New York. Abbi is a Main Line native, who lives in Astoria, Queens, with her alter ego, Val, who only appears when she’s blacked out drunk. Ilana Glazer, who plays the title character Ilana Wexler, is a New York University graduate living in Gowanus, Brooklyn, and a marijuana enthusiast. Susie Essman plays Bobbi, the other main character in the show.
